The late Mr Ram Kumar Batra founded the Batra Group in 1949 after he moved to
Bombay during the Indian Independence. Over the years Ram Batra gained a reputation for
absolute integrity as he founded a group of businesses that ranged from textiles to
plastics.
He created Bandbox, a string of laundries that grew and diversified to become one of the
largest chains of dyers and dry cleaners in India.
A compassionate philanthropist, he supported many medical, cultural, religious and sporting charities and was appointed Sheriff of Bombay.
Today his two sons Rajesh and Rajiv run the Group and have created an international group with a portfolio of brands, retail, fitness and exports.
